Learning What's In Your Credit Report the Hard Way

The fact is that you never the significance of the information contained in your credit report, until that information comes back to bite you. That is certainly true in my case, and I once I saw the car loan is needed to slip away, and it is my dream car, all because of an error in my report.

As a young man, I have little to note that the mysterious thing as a credit report. After all, I had always paid my bills, and I just assumed I had the credit. That is, until I use for a car loan - and was rejected cold. I can not imagine what the problem was and I asked the loan officer at my bank for an explanation. He explained that my credit report showed a negative entries, and that was why they did not, the loan.

Fortunately, he told me how to make a copy of my credit report, so I could the problem. I trudged to my local credit office. This was in the pre-Internet days, when things are still dealing with paper and pencil. I pulled a copy of my credit report, and to my surprise, I have a lot of negative entries from collection attempts, from a record club these things. I have the membership canceled, but the club apparently had not the denunciation. For all I know, there are a bunch of records sitting in front of the door of my old apartment.

I have finally resolved the issue, and the club of the month no longer haunts my credit. But I have learned the value of keeping tabs on your credit report on a regular basis. The information in your credit report, whether true or not, it can cause you problems. It is best to take the bull by the horns and check your own credit report from time to time.
